The operation, which culminated in a Super Bowl press conference, showcased a wide range of fake goods, including jerseys, hats, rings, and even a phony Lombardi Trophy. The CBP's Eric Batt emphasized the impact of counterfeiting, highlighting its negative effects on local vendors, American jobs, and consumer safety. Batt also drew attention to the sellers' use of online platforms to sell discounted 'official' gear, which often comes with real risks, unsafe materials, poor quality, and potential links to criminal activity. The NFL, through its spokesperson Michael Buchwald, has made significant strides in reducing fraudulent ticketing by transitioning to digital-only platforms. They encourage fans to avoid printing tickets at home and instead secure resale tickets through NFL-licensed websites. Despite these efforts, the exact number of fraudulent game tickets sold in the past year remains undisclosed.
