Derrick Henry is on the cusp of etching his name even deeper into NFL history! This powerhouse running back is closing in on a remarkable achievement that solidifies his place among the league's elite.
According to NBC Sports, Henry needs just 69 rushing yards to become only the fourth player in NFL history to achieve the feat of seven seasons with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. The company of legends he's about to join is truly impressive: LaDainian Tomlinson (who accomplished this an astounding eight times), Adrian Peterson and Emmitt Smith (both with seven).
Henry has already showcased his dominance in the seasons of 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. His consistency and ability to find the end zone are undeniable.
But there's more! If Henry manages to rush for 150 or more yards against the Steelers, he'll share a special distinction with Jim Brown. They would be the only players to have achieved three games with 150+ rushing yards against the Steelers. And, including last year's playoff game, Henry would be the only one to have done it three times in a row.
However, the Steelers will likely be ready for Henry. After giving up a lot of rushing yards at home, they'll probably stack the box to stop him, putting pressure on quarterback Lamar Jackson to pass the ball. And this is the part most people miss... Given Jackson's recent performance, this could be a risky move for Pittsburgh.
Could the Steelers' strategy backfire? Will they be able to contain Henry, or will he run wild, regardless of their defensive adjustments? This game is crucial for both teams. A loss for the Steelers could lead to a disappointing atmosphere in their Week 15 Monday night game against the Dolphins, potentially filled with boos and calls for a coaching change.
