Severin Films has recently unveiled exciting details and a captivating new trailer for the upcoming release of "Antonio Margheriti & The Jungles of Doom: His '80s Adventure Films" (1982-1985). This extensive collection, which includes seven discs featuring 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and a CD, is set to hit store shelves on March 24.
For over forty years, Antonio Margheriti carved out a niche as a brilliant director within genres such as gothic horror, westerns, giallo, and sci-fi. Following the massive success of "RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK," Margheriti embarked on creating three extravagant action-adventure films that can be aptly dubbed 'Indiana Jonesploitation.' In "THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA," viewers are taken on a thrilling ride where actors David Warbeck and John Steiner portray two audacious WWII adventurers on a quest for an ancient artifact imbued with supernatural powers. The duo returns in "THE ARK OF THE SUN GOD," where they attempt to infiltrate a mountaintop temple to capture the legendary Scepter of Gilgamesh. Lastly, in "JUNGLE RAIDERS," Christopher Connelly and Lee Van Cleef face treacherous traps, betrayal, and explosive dangers in pursuit of a valuable gem known as The Ruby of Gloom. Each film has undergone a meticulous 4K restoration from the original camera negatives, complemented by over two hours of fresh and archival Special Features created specifically for this collection.
THE HUNTERS OF THE GOLDEN COBRA (1982)
In the first installment of his Indiana Jonesploitation Trilogy, Antonio Margheriti—known for works like "CASTLE OF BLOOD" and "THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBERG"—delivers a high-octane adventure, described by The Gentlemen's Blog to Midnite Cinema as "full-throttle action." The film stars David Warbeck (from "THE BEYOND") and John Steiner (from "NIGHT OF THE SHARKS") as a daring pair of WWII treasure hunters who navigate deadly traps and intricate double-crosses while searching for the supernatural relic known as The Golden Cobra.
