The 2025 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West is set to be an exhilarating event, showcasing the nation's top junior swimmers. This competition, taking place from December 10-13 at the Lee & Joe Jamil Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas, will feature some of the most talented athletes in the sport. With the country's best junior swimmers gearing up for this prestigious meet, the excitement is palpable.
On the women's side, several standout recruits will be competing. Indiana commit Kayla Han, a two-time USA National Team Member and the #2 recruit in the class of 2026, aims to defend her titles in the 1650 free and 400 IM for the third consecutive year. She will be swimming just four events, entering as the top seed in each: 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free, and 400 IM. Another notable name is Sydney Schoeck, the #7 recruit in the class of 2026, who will compete in the 200 back and the remaining events alongside Han.
The women's field also includes Mikayla Tan, a 15-year-old NAG record holder in the 11-12 and 13-14 age groups, who will tackle the 200 IM, 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast, and 200 breast. Other top seeds include Kelsey Zhang (200 IM, 200 fly), Adalynn Biegler (50 free), Clare Watson (100 fly), Alyssa Ton (200 free), Bianca Nwaizu (100 breast), Vera Conic (100 back), and Gabi Brito (100 free).
On the men's side, Luke Vatev, the #2 recruit in his class, will showcase his skills in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 free, and 200 fly. Rowan Cox, a Longhorn Aquatics member, will aim to defend his title in the 100 fly, where he is the #1 seed. He is also entered in several other events, including the 100 back, 200 fly, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, and 100 free. Shareef Elaydi, a CIF State Champion, holds top seeds in the 200 IM and 200 fly, and will also compete in the 100 breast, 100 fly, and 200 breast.
Other top seeds on the men's side include Maxwell Stanislaus (200 free, 500 free), Tyler Porter (50 free), Whitaker Steward (1000 free), Anthony Dornoff (400 IM), Andrew Eubanks (100 breast, 200 breast), and Yury Kuzmenko (100 free). Gabriel Manteufel, the #2 recruit in the class of 2026, will only swim one event, the mile, having won this event and the 500 free last year.
